Why is the war in Afghanistan taking so long?
The war in Afghanistan took longer than anyone would've expected and that's the reason why the war ended in a way that no one expected especially the USA government since the Taliban took over the country and the USA military flew away while learning countless lessons.
The war that went on for nearly 20 years while being a mere disappointment for everyone who was expecting a victory for the USA. The main question is why is the war in Afghanistan taking so long.
The main reason why the war took so long was due to poor planning and strategies that kept making the war more complex and never ending for both parties. The Taliban recruited more and more warriors for themselves who weren't afraid to die and became stronger after a certain period of time. At the start, some other forces of different countries stepped with the US army in fight against these organizations but later on they called the forces back and American army was left alone fighting against the Taliban and Al Qaeda.
The army of the Taliban had control in nearly every corner of Afghanistan which made them more invulnerable and stronger tactically on how to deal with the American army. Since both of the armies were firm on their stance and didn't want to give up, the war started getting longer and longer and it took them 20 years to finally come to a decision and that too was done by a negotiation effort offered by the US government.
Both of the parties signed a peace treaty that was held in Qatar at the start of 2020 and that's where the Americans really knew that they were near to a defeat. Little by little, Taliban became stronger after this peace treaty and as a result started to take control of Afghanistan and gained complete control in 2021 which resulted in a victory for Afghanistan after a war of 20 years causing countless damage and making the parties learn valuable lessons.
It was poor policies and strategies that let the war get longer and made the result not end in the favour of the USA. Despite being the favourites in the war, the USA never expected this outcome that came in the form of a defeat even after all the efforts were done.
