What are the conditions of victory in the Afghanistan war?
The war in Afghanistan that was started by President Bush in 2001 had many lessons for us to learn as it carried on for nearly two decades and still the US couldn't successfully wipe out the Taliban from the land of Afghans and lost millions of dollars of supplies, weapons, and most importantly lives of more than 2,500 soldiers in the war.
To understand what made the US push for war and still not be able to come out with a favourable result, we need to understand what are the conditions of victory in the Afghanistan War.
The conditions of victory in the Afghanistan war were simple; to end the dominance of Taliban and al Qaeda from around the world especially from Afghanistan and to get or eliminate the leaders of these terrorist organizations. After the 9/11 attack, the dynamics of the whole world and politics were changed and big decisions were to be made by the administration of USA. The USA government stated that either the Taliban handover their leaders to the US or share their fate as they will unleash the war. After the refusal of handing over their leaders by Taliban and Al Qaeda, the USA took the decision of starting a war hoping for a victory and most importantly to establish peace around the world and end the terrorism spread by these terrorist organizations.
The 9/11 attack wasn't the only attack done by such organizations on USA to destabilize them as they had have made previous attempts before it. Their previous attempts include their attack on World Trade Center through a car bomb in 1993, assassination of hundreds of civilians in 1998 in a bombing of the embassy and attacking the US Cole in 2000. What happened at 9/11 was their most successful and disastrous attack that shook the world apart and a decision had to be made to ensure the safety of USA from such terrorists and their activities that spread fear around the world.
FAQs
Did Taliban attack other countries too?
Taliban spread terror in Afghanistan and attacked the USA in their grave act of hijacking planes and that's not where it ends as they've attacked many countries to continue their terrorist activities and kill people. Even their neighbours Pakistan weren't safe from their attacks and faced terrorist attacks for years and that's why USA decided to take a step and end this extremism once and for all to ensure safety of every country.
Has any country accepted Afghanistan as a country after Taliban's takeover?
Since the takeover of Taliban in 2021 in Afghanistan, no country has recognized Afghanistan as a legitimate state. The main reason behind why any country has accepted their legitimacy is due to their extreme policies in today's world and no one has forgotten what they have done in the past that caused thousands of casualties of innocent people around the world. The Taliban leaders are still ruling the Afghan land while making extreme policies that are against the basic human rights according to the people.
