Why did America go to war in Afghanistan?

There is probably no decision harder than taking a decision of starting a war with some country and knowing the consequences that a country might face for such a decision, the administration of the country has to consider each and every factor before declaring a war. Such was the case with America when they decided to swallow this hard pill and fight back against terrorism once and for all for a better and peaceful land for their citizens. Many people aren't aware of the exact reason why America go to war in Afghanistan and in this blog, we will try to fully enlighten you with the historical events that pushed the American administration to go to war.

Reason of war

The reason why George Bush decided to declare war and send the military inAfghanistan was to protect their homeland and the world from the grave acts of terror from Al Qaeda and Taliban. The Afghani land was a heaven for both militant groups who spread terror and crimes around the world but when they attacked the world trade center on 11th September 2001, it is where the decision of going to war became necessary. Al Qaeda fully accepted that they attacked the World Trade Center by hijacking aircraft and making them crash into the towers causing a horrific loss for the people and government of the USA.

After a week, the US administration went on to take the decision after passing a joint resolution to send their military in Afghanistan in order to minimize and destroy the force of al Qaeda that was being groomed and trained in Afghanistan. Countless aircraft, military troops and supplies were sent to Afghanistan to invade Afghanistan and to stop the spreading of terrorism. It was not an easy decision at all as the lives of the military, citizens and even the resources of the USA were put at great risk but it was necessary and that's why the war was declared.

The war was carried out for nearly two decades before it came to an end in 2021 resulting in the Taliban winning the war and the USA leaving the Afghan land once and for all after the president of Afghanistan ran away from the country once the Taliban took over. The war had a great number of lessons to be learned for everyone and to honour the legacy and bravery of the people who sacrificed their blood and lives to ensure a better future for us.
