Why Do New Couples In The Military Get Divorced?
Maintaining a healthy relationship with the spouse or partner can often become challenging and that's why divorces are becoming so common these days. People find their partners and form a couple to live happily together but sometimes different factors can destroy the whole relationship. Military couples are found to face this issue more than ordinary people. Many people don't understand why new couples in the military get divorced.
There are several factors that can immensely impact the relationship of a couple
especially for people who are working in the military while having a
relationship with someone. The life of people working in the military is quite
noble and honored but still they find it difficult to keep their relationship
healthy and successful. Here are some factors that usually have a negative
impact on the relationship of a couple.
1. Military families have to keep moving
People working in the military usually have a restless life because they
have to keep moving from one place to another. They are assigned different
duties every now and then into different camps or cities or even to overseas
posts for deployment. The working person in the military has to accept the job
because it's an order and the family will usually have to move with them. The other
partner finds it hard to settle in and get some relief while constantly moving
from one place to another and that can have a negative impact on the
relationship.
2. Long deployments
Many couples find it difficult to live without each other for weeks or months.
The duties and deployments in the military are pretty long and the spouse might
have to stay in different camps for weeks or even months to complete their
duty. Due to the long distance between the partners, the relationship of the
couple is certainly damaged because of no or less presence of the partner
working in military.
3. Faithless partner
The long distance of the partners from each other can turn any one of the
partners faithless and they might start a relationship with someone else. Since
both partners aren't together, it isn't that difficult for either one of them
to start an affair without letting their partner know about it. The partner
working in the military might also start a relationship with someone on duty
with them and that sounds surprising but it is actually true. Faithlessness is
also another major factor in divorces between the couple.
4. Less communication and more secrets
Communication is the key to having a healthy and successful relationship.
Partners share their stories and experiences with each other and that brings
them closer than ever. Not telling them about their duties or experiences can
cause stress between the couple. The spouse working in the military is usually
bound to not tell almost anything about their duties to anyone even to their
partner and that creates a lot of tension between the couple.
5. The other partner might have to abandon their career
Due to the continuous shifting from one camp or city to another, the
non-military partner will find it impossible to keep their career ongoing and
will have to leave their job and even their house for the military working
partner. The spouse at the home will have to watch the kids all the time like a
single parent because the other partner is usually performing their military duties.
This can single handedly destroy and abandon the career of a non-military
partner which can cause a lot of stress.
The rising rate of divorces in today's world isn't a good thing to see and
couples should instantly look for alternatives to solve the situation. For
military couple, they should look to get military couples
therapy as quickly as possible to ensure the longevity of their
relationship.
