Installation Of Junction Box On Security Cameras

The installation of junction boxes isn't difficult or complex at all and you will find it pretty comfortable to install it quickly. The process can be completed easily by just performing 7 steps that goes as follows.

1. Selecting The Place To Install The Junction Box

The first step is to select the ideal location where the junction box will be placed. The ideal location that we recommend is to place it somewhere that is hardly reachable for people. This is to prevent anyone from stealing your security camera easily. Another thing that should be considered is to look for a place near a power source so that the camera can be supplied power easily to it.

2. Marking The Spots Of Screw On Box

After selecting a perfect location for your camera box, it's time to mark the spots where screws will be tightened on the junction box. After marking it on the box, mark the spots on the wall where it will be installed using a pencil or a pen. Mark every spot darkly where the screws will be placed. If you are installing the camera on the side of the house, then you should also mark screw spots on the siding of the wall too. Marking holes will make it easy for you to drill holes in the wall or box.

3. Drill Holes In The Marked Spots

Once you are done with marking spots, it's time to drill all the holes at the places. Power on your drill and start drilling with a bit of the same size as the screw or smaller. Smaller holes will make It easier for you to fit the screws within them. Make sure that you drill all the holes for the microphone, sensor, wires and cables of your camera. Once you're done drilling the holes, clean them to ensure the finishing of the work. Place the screw fishers in the hole and then tighten the holes firmly so that your box becomes immovable on the wall.

4. Run The Wires Of Camera Into The Box

The next step is to feed all the wires of the camera into the box. It might include the power cable, network cable, DVR cable etc so feed all of them inside. Once all of the wires are present inside the box, tie them using a wire or tie clip. Remember to leave enough length of wires outside the junction box of the camera so that you can connect the camera to the power supply easily.

5. Connect The Camera Wires

Now that you have fed all the wires into the junction box, it's time to connect it to the server you own (DVR or NVR). All you have to do is to simply connect the power supply to the cameras and after that connect the Ethernet cable from the NVR or DVR to your camera. If you have a wireless camera, then your work will be simpler. All you have to do is connect the camera to a power supply and then connect them to the Wi-Fi in your home. To prevent interference, connections should be tight and firmly done. After doing all this, you can finally close your junction box.

6. Fix Your Camera To The Junction Box

Once you've done the previous step, you are ready with your junction box and now you have to put the camera in the place. You have to mount the camera to the face of the junction box where you've drilled the hole. Align the holes that you drilled with the camera and then put the screws in place. Appropriate size of screws should be used so that it will fit in perfectly.

7. Tighten It With A Screwdriver

The final step is to secure all the screws into the junction box and the camera. The screws should be firmly tightened so that the camera becomes immovable and fixed into place. Strong winds and harsh weather can loosen the cameras so tightly securing is recommended. After tightening the camera, set the perfect angle that will cover the whole place precisely with your hands.

These 7 steps are pretty easy if you think thoroughly and won't possibly take much time to install a junction box into the camera. Just be sure to follow all the steps carefully and to close the junction box once you are done setting up the wires inside. Installation of junction boxes is always encouraged so that your camera remains protected at every kind of weather and time. Moreover, there are lesser chances that anyone might steal or spot the cameras.
